![]() For this to happen, we took a look at some common pitfalls of traditional brainstorming sessions and "smashed" them like a bug. Here are a few typical scenarios that we found needed to be smashed:
Creativity
on demand. . .
No presentations, no grounding…"let’s just
get together and wham,
bam capture a list of all our ideas!" The good news is that you can
quickly create a long list of ideas. The downside is that these are
the exact same ideas that were on the list from last year’s session and you
still don’t feel like you have something strong enough to move forward.
So how
do WE see things differently?
Recognizing the average adult attention span is 15-20 minutes at best (some
research shows as little as 7 seconds!), combined with the fact that in
order for people to create they need to be actively engaged (not just
passively listening, but true hands on…full brain engagement), we
design each session around a "Kaleidoscoping" Flow.
Kaleidoscoping is an experiential and
multi-faceted process that enables teams to work collaboratively.,..sparking
connections that inspire and fuel your team's collective creativity.
Kaleidoscoping Flow (Key Elements)
1. Stimulus Sparks 2. Deepen Connections a chance for participants to dive into the stimulus and connect with it via conversation, journaling, modeling... 3. Ideation Tool/Activity 4. Creating Starter Ideas Now that you have a sense of the process, imagine what it would look and feel like to be working with small groups of 3-4...experiencing this process in multiple rounds…each time working with new people…using new stimulus… and a new ideation tool to spark fresh connections. You will find that as your team engages in these multiple rounds that you will experience and see things much differently. Similar to when you shift the lens of a kaleidoscope, in each round your team will view the opportunities at hand in a fresh way and bring this entirely new view together to create amazing ideas and unforeseen possibilities.
